About this place

A village on the eastern slope of the Mount of Olives, about 3 km from Jerusalem. The Gospels make it the home of Martha, Mary and Lazarus, the scene of Lazarus’ raising in John, and the place where a woman anointed Jesus before his death. The Secret Mark letter places a raising story here too.
